Habit stacking

I love exploring new monthly themes for my Yoga for Men classes in Keynsham and Saltford – January being no exception. The month where resolutions take centre stage before exiting stage left by the time of ‘quitters day’ if not before..

I had heard others refer to habit stacking as an effective science-backed behaviour change strategy, so thought we could delve a bit deeper this month.

I already habit stack in my classes without even realising it. We share scores our of 10. We then breathe, move and find stillness before feeling into moments of gratitude and end by sharing scores again.

I also do the same with my morning movement practice. I clear the dishwasher, let the dogs out ⛲️ 💩 before getting my mat and equipment out the night before so that I’m ready to roll out of bed and get moving the next day.

So, my challenge to the guys that join me this month is to reflect on their existing habits, and explore how they can incorporate any elements of what they learn and enjoy the most from my classes into their daily routine.
